I drove DS11 to the local ghetto-fab PS middle school Friday to pick up enrollment paperwork...you don't even want to know what that place was like!

Why are you sending your son to PS?

We are on our Sabbath week next week! I am SO excited. I have so much to do, but I am gonna try and rest some too. My back is still hurting bad!

I don't intend to keep him there. It's just to realize the sacrifices we make for him. He is horrible. His mouth goes non-stop, he is disrespectful, hateful, and sarcastic to the whole family. He refuses to take responsibility for anything, and expects everything handed to him--totally lazy--just like his dad. He goes to his dad's every other weekend and when we get him back he's 100 times worse and we start all over again. I homeschool him in an attempt to keep him from being like his father (I would never tell him that!), but every day I struggle against the temptation to wash my hands and be done with it.

What's crazy is you would never know that he behaves that way. He is polite and respectful to other people. Quiet in his co-op classes. Teachers love him. But I know I'm not alone...so many other hs moms have told me they have had the same probs with their pre-teen/teen boys...and they are wonderful godly mothers. They all told me the boys grow out of it, and their sons are all fantastic. So I hold out hope that if I parent biblically God will solve this.

Oh Leigh, I am so sorry. I have no good advice for you other than the obvious...PRAY!

Maybe a good dose of PS will be just what he needs to realize he has it good at home. We need to pray that God protects him from bad influences.

Leigh I feel your pain  Cry
I have a 14 y/o dd who is pure evil 90% of the time. The way she talks to me and her father is shocking, she is verbally abusive to her younger siblings. She teases and bullies them relentlessly. But, in school her teachers love her. I think it may be jealousy since she goes to PS (her choice) and her little sisters are hs'ed. I told her if she doesn't start acting better she will be starting counseling to deal with whatever is going on.

Jen, what is up with these kids? I grew up in a household that was Christian but not run Biblically. We treated each other awfully. It's actually amazing to me that we all still communicate with each other! I never wanted this for my kids but I got a late start on biblical parenting with my oldest and really don't have a frame of reference for how to "do" this. I feel like I'm navigating in the dark. All I can do is read the Bible, other Christian parenting books (love Dobson), and pray, and just trust in God.

The worst thing is, this behavior is rubbing off on my middle child and now she talks to the youngest that way. I am doing everything I know to stop it. It breaks my heart.
