Does anyone have any recommendations for a Spanish program that works well or one that didn't work out for you.  I am looking for something that starts with the very basics, and has a cd or cd-rom to go with for them to hear the pronunciation.

Powerglide spanish- We tried it and hated it. It would take much too long to learn anything. And the method is not desirable.
We do Rosetta Stone and my teenage son who did not know any Spanish had a very good experience but then again I am fluent in the language so I could help him when he had a problem (although there were not many instances of that).
We are now using it with my two elementary aged sons but we take it very slowly and they have learned a lot!
We have heard really good things about Tell Me More. But do not know anything about it.
Another course is El Espanol Facil (Easy Spanish) which was created to train missionaries seems pretty good and is more of a Charlotte Mason approach to learning the language (at least that was how someone described it and was the reason I was drawn to it). It does have CDs. We have that curriculum which we will do with the children together in a year or two year when all the kids are more on the same level/ability to learn. Then we will return to Rosetta Stone finish Spanish and learn another language probably Hebrew.
Hope this helps!

Tell Me More is on a great sale right now at homeschoolbuyersco-op.org
So is Rosetta Stone.

Carrie, I am going to check out the Spanish you are doing too.

Thanks for the recommendations, I will have to check out some of those.  The Tell Me More and Rosetta Stone are WAY over my budget.  I am interested in hearing more about the Spanish for Children.  I know of a few people who use their latin products and really like those.

Someone named Jennifer (I think) from Curriculum Share just purchased Spanish for Children from me...I thought maybe it was you!?

I haven't done a review on it, but from what I see, I like it. I am excited to use it.

We tried several before I finally hit the jackpot:

La Clase Divertida is just awesome, easy to teach and a lot of fun while still learning a lot!! My kids are K-7 (and we started 2 years ago with the 1st level). You pop the DVD in, listen and work along the interactive lesson, which ends either with a craft (supplies for 2 kids are already in the box, more can easily be bought) , a recipe(very easy and yummy) or a historical story.
Everything for 2 kids comes in each Kit, there are 3 levels, we're almost through the 2nd level and my kids learnt quite a lot, I'm very pleased about their success!!
This is by far the best I've found, aso it's so much more fun than Rosetta Stone, which I would use more for older kids....
We supplement it for my 2 older kids with "Spanish in 10 minutes a day" which works great.

All the bloggers are raving about Speekee Spanish. I have satellite internet with bandwidth limits so I can't use it here.
