In my eternal search for free resources I stumble upon a website that is for educators... so I felt inclined to go in and see what was available for free... it took some clicking, but I found this...
http://illuminations.nctm.org/From the National Counsel of Teacher of Mathematics. Some of the resources on that site are for teachers that are registered with them, and then there is this website.
When you click on the "Lessons" button it takes you to a menu where you get to choose your age group.
Each link after that would give you a mini summary of what the inside lesson is about and what "Standards" it covers. Some of us need that info for our records. each Lesson has:
Learning Objectives
Materials
Instruction Plan
PDF activity Sheet
Extensions
Standards and Expectations
References
Each section is self explanatory, but I wanted to comment on Expectations... A lot of the time we as teachers, should I say I as a teacher, do a lesson, or follow a lesson plan, but don't really asses in a written manner where we would be able to note a difference for the next time I cover a topic. In some of this pre-made lessons the questions in this section are for the teacher to assess learning. I like that.
Other activities/Lessons have tabs within dividing the lesson in different activities for a 4-6 days on the same topic.
Computer activities/on-line activities. they seem interesting and are also included in different lesson plans. OK, I admit that some of the lessons are no brainers, but at least they have it all in one place.
All these lessons have been written by teachers...
I hope you like the link as much as I did.
