Our apartment complex is having a decoration contest with $$ off the rent for first, second and third prize.  We have a disadvantage being on the second floor, because our patio is smaller, and we don't have the ability to decorate the surrounding area of grass, but I really wanted to try and see if we can't win a prize.  So I need opinions, what do you all think of our decorations, what's missing, what should we change?

With what you have to work with it looks great. Maybe some lights around patio doors or holly over the doorway....that is the only thing that looks bear. Kiss

If you can get on the roof, you could add lights there in patterns or write out a word like PEACE. Is the judging being done in the day or night? if night the more lights the better, if day I would get some more color, like the holly previously mentioned, or greenery garlands, and maybe some of those giant plastic ornaments. Good Luck!

We did this many years ago and we won first place in Florida!!  We were on the second floor as well with about as much space Grin  I would suggest getting some heavy duty wire and make something out of it and then wrap lights around it, and put in that bare spot on the left by the door and the corner of building.  I had made a star and an angel.  Hang lights from the ceiling of your balcony, and find some cheap ornaments to hang down from the ceiling as well.  If you have any old garland that you do not use anymore or is on its last leg, that is always good to hang out too.  I waited until I knew they were out and about judging and I had Christmas music playing outside when they walked by too.  Maybe something on the sliding glass doors too.  I am not sure if I still have pictures of it or not, if I can find them, I will try to post.

Can they see your door from the outside? If so placing some stuffed animals inside holding homemade books, to look like Christmas carolers, and playing music, as if they were singing would be so cute!!! Im thinking chipmunk style music if you have it Smiley
