Stressed but BLESSED!

« Reply #15 on: July 23, 2010, 12:44:15 AM »

When I was doing more formal school with my daughter last year, we schooled 4-5 days a week.  I'm not sure what we'll do once I officially get us in gear for the fall.

I have a 5 year old, 3 year old, and an almost 10 month old, so it's hard to find a good time that we can all concentrate and get a good block of things accomplished.  I think we'll be setting up real "getting up" schedules and basic daily chores and tasks and weave school into that.

My daughter needs the structure even more than I do! Smiley

My high school daughter does 4 days a week with Fridays being "help mom clean house day"  My son who will be in 3rd this year will be doing 5 day weeks and Fridays will be a bit lighter than the rest of the week.

Last year we did 4 days with a co-op on Friday. This year we have almost the same schedule, but I think I will throw in some school in the morning before co-op.  (not positive about that yet...might make it errand day, instead)

4 here.  In a perfect world, we'd have Fridays off every week, but if I (or anyone else) needs a day off other than Friday, we do school on Friday instead.  Smiley

We are doing 4 here, Wed. off, we are also going year round. The reason for the day off mid-week is that my middle child burns out very easily, this seems to be giving him a much needed break at the right time. Sometimes appointments and such change our schedule, we ended up taking last week off because I was watching a newborn 16 hours a day (mommy is a nurse and daddy left for a wedding) had two birthday's to deal with, and had to make a trip into Reno to take mommy and baby to the airport to catch their flight to Chicago for the wedding. After all that it just made sense to take the week off rather than stress over what we were not getting done, I'm glad we did it that way.

We do 4 sometimes and more sometimes. She isn't even 3 so we just go with the flow. She loves Starfall and knows most of her letters on sight and she knows their sounds, she knows most colors and 1-5 on her fingers. I figure that is ok for a kid that won't sit still for 2 seconds. I am too lazy too push her just yet.

We have a history co-op on Monday, science co-op on Tues, workbox assignments on Wed - Fri. Sat and Sun are family days, Sat we usually get chores done around the house that require group work, and Sun is church in the morning, family stuff in the afternoon\evening. We have a large extended family nearby and there is always something going on. So depending on how you define "school" we do school 7 days.

I am surprised how many families go 4 days instead of 5, it's almost even. My oldest is in PS, so we follow her school calendar so everybody is on the same page. We do our work for about  2-3 total hours a day, but we take ALOT of breaks (my 2 y/o is very distracting  Roll Eyes)

We do at least 4 and sometimes more. With prek it just depends on her.

I always aim for at least 4, some weeks I can get 6 out of them and so it makes up for the weeks we struggle to get in 4

I voted 4, although we strive for 5 and most weeks we do get 5 in. Some weeks stuff just happens you know? So I dont fret about it and just go on the next day when that happens. After all around here there are usually plenty of snow days that we dont miss, so they wont be behind or anything .

We plan for 5 days, but frequently only get to do 4, due to illness, doctor appointments, last minute just-came-up-with-the-money bill paying, the usual...I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. In the past we've always done an all-day co-op on Mondays, but we're taking a break from that this semester...and maybe next semester if my kids don't mutiny. It's been nice not to rush around Monday mornings and then be exhausted on Tuesdays.
