We do school 4 days a week...taking Fridays off for our homeschool group day. I noticed that this year we have a lot more subjects to do, and thinking it may only get to be more the higher the grade, just wondering how many days you all do school?

We school 7 days a week, but we tend to have short days, a little more or less than an hour each day.

Right now, we are doing only 1.5 subjects (Phonics and some math/counting) In the fall, we'll probably have 4-6 subjects.  In the fall, we'll probably do 6 days a week, for a little more or less than 2hrs a day.

I plan our week's worth of work over four days, but it usually takes us the full week to get through it. We'll lose a day to the dentist/doctor (amazing how one, one-hour appointment plus travel can throw off an entire day), or travel. Or *I* get busy, and they only get finished the work they can do independently. We usually need that fifth day to do something we would have done on a different day.

Each day's work, FWIW, ranges from about 45 minutes (kindergarten) to 3 hours 2nd grader), if they'll focus on what we're doing. Conversational days, improvisational days, high imagination days, it can take us longer to get through our core content.

We school five days a week, but have lighter days on Fridays and often have lunch at McDonalds on Fridays as a special treat.

This year we did 4 because my son did an outside class with IMACS (Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science).  This year I believe we will do 5 days out of necessity.

For my 4 yo daughter we will be doing a little something everyday but it will be mostly her choosing.  I want her to have fun above all else.

We start our school year at the beginning of August, and there are an average of 48 days in each of the quarters, and we usually finish by the First of May.  I have grades 2,3, and 8.  Because of moving, sick days, allergy days (we have severe allergies in our family), and other misc.  days, like visiting relatives, we usually use a few days in May to finish up.
We work Mon - Fri about 4 hours per child, each child has five subjects, the 8th grader has an additional elective of Art.  My 8th grader can also do most of her work independently, then there's my 3rd grader that blows through her work in minutes and needs to be challenged.  My 2nd grader requires more hands on help, as most lower graders do, but he's also not good at sitting still! Smiley  And during summer, I make small work packets to keep the cobwebs out of their brains - about 30 minutes/day worth of work, mostly the things that are difficult to remember.
Hm, this reply is rather long, sorry.

We have lessons 4 days a week, with one day being reserved for field trips and park days.  If they are goofing off all week though I will have them make it up on day 5.

We do 5 days, about 4-5 hours a day, but we go iceskating on Friday for 3 hours and help at Toddler group on Tues from 9-12 so we don't get a full day of academic work on those two days.
We do 7 weeks on and 1 week off to fit in with friends who attend school.

Lisa,

When you said you do 7 weeks on and one week off to fit in w/ the other kids that go to school....is that how they do school where you are? That is interesting!

This is our first year homeschooling (we started July 1st) and right now we are pretty much doing 7 days a week for math, free reading and bible study.  She is also working on penmanship and Time 4 Learning and next week we will add a nature study notebook.  We only homeschool from about 8:30-11 right now because I work at 11:30.

During the summer we are doing 3 or 4 days a week depending on what's going on with the rest of the family. Plus my 9yo just finished public school and I don't want to burn him out, give him time to get used to things.

In September we'll go into a full 4 days of schooling with one day off for various activities and appts. With 2 special needs kids, there are a lot of trips to various specialists and such and it's not so easy to work the dr's appts around school hours.

Usually everyday, all-year long but we aim for 5-15 min a subject unless he wants more. the exception is SS because we treat it as a bed-time story.

We typically do 5, but the length of the day depends on what our real world schedule looks like.

I plan to do 5 day week. I am in Illinois and do not have a lot of law to follow except for the attendance law of 176 days.  With the days we have planned off we will begin officially Sept 7 and end May 27.
