Leigh I buy my essential oils online like at luckyvitamin.com But you can get them at whole foods or any natural or vitamin shop

I can't wait to do this! My hubby and I take epsom salt baths with essential oil dropped in the bath all the time! I never thought to premake them. The colors are so pretty... do they turn the bath that color?!?! LOL

I found the essential oil at our local health food store. If you have something like a Whole Foods or Central Market near you, they'd have it too. You can also order it online, although paying for shipping is a bummer.

It is called essential oil. It's different than say, flavoring extract you'd use to cook with from the grocery store. You can get all kinds of essential oils, in nearly any flower/plant/fruit/tree scent you can think of.

The oil and food coloring is sort of added to your taste, depending on whether you want a really intense color and smell, or something more subtle. Basically just a few drops of each.

All you have to do is screw the lids on the jars, you don't have to seal them as if you were canning food.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you think of anything else.  Grin

Livingmydream
I used some lime green bath salts today, and they did turn the bath faintly greenish. Smiley

FYI Hobby Lobby has a 40%off coupon this week. I got it for signing up for their emails, but it expires today Sad But it's also on a banner at their website! hobbylobby.com

We did bath salts earlier, and now we've moved on to the soaps! I can't believe I'm actually doing this! I'm moving from the realm of the hopelessly un-crafty to the land of the creative and artsy. And my kids think I'm super cool today  Cheesy

Crafting doesn't have to be difficult!  I always choose simple things for my boys to do alone.  (They can make the coffee mixes if I measure the stuff out for them) When we work together we do more difficult things.  I usually do the sewing alone, but my oldest recently expressed that he wants to learn to sew, we'll see, I'm not so sure he's old enough to sew just yet.

I'm glad you're having fun with the crafting, Leigh. Smiley My earliest crafting memories are of making things with my mom when I was 6 or 7. Your kiddos will probably remember making stuff with mom even after you've forgotten about it.

I just started making yet another SIMPLE Christmas gift idea.  PJ pants.  My boys love them for jammies and for lounging days.  I make them from flannel, fleece, and quilters cotton.  The most comfy are the fleece and quilters cotton, the easiest are the fleece.  If you make it from fleece you don't have to hide hems, if they are flannel or quilters cotton you have to hide the inner hem to keep it from unravelling.  I have a pattern for my boys, but making a pattern is Sooooooo simple!  I printed a pattern online for my baby, and they all have matching PJ pants now.
